30 Rock
triviality:
30Rock,
Hulu,
television,
Zune
I love 30 Rock.
There are very few shows that actually make me laugh out loud and even fewer live action shows that make me laugh out loud but 30 Rock pretty consistently makes me laugh hard enough that I'm worried I'll wake up my patients (I'm typically watching it on Hulu while at work).
I don't really have anything else o say that hasn't been said 40,000 other people but I haven't posted anything in a while and I wanted to at least post my favorite quotes from the most recent episode.
"Sorry it took me so long to answer but I was thinking about how weird it is that we eat birds."
"You wake a sleepwalker, you risk getting urinated on."
"Nope I lost it - that was Batman."
"I know by 'binky' he means 1970s pornography."
Oh, and my status message on Zune is now "Here comes the Funcooker" thanks to the episode before that.

The Spree (shopping not killing)
triviality:
Best Buy,
Eee PC,
electronics,
technology,
television,
Xbox360,
Zune
Yesterday was an interesting day. FedEx delivered my new Eee PC 1000HE so Emily and I could take our pile of shit Toshiba Satellite A215 into Best Buy for servicing. We also had to take in the Zune to switch out because the squircle randomly stopped working Thursday night.
While we were in Best Buy, however, we apparently lost our fucking minds. While we waited for the Geek Squad guy to get things together for the computer we ended up buying a new television (32" Samsung 1080p), an Xbox 360 and all the peripherals (extra controller, chargers, etc). I love getting shiny new electronics but fucking hell do I hate paying for them. We dropped $1300 in a matter of minutes and while the end-result is shiny LCD and Halo 3, it's still sad to look at the before-and-after bank balances.
Plus we saw Watchmen (sans children!) and it was awesome. The theater we went to was a fucking shithole but the movie was great and there were Raisinettes so who cares. Fuck theaters (and restaurants, hot dog stands and brothels) that serve Pepsi products. Fuck Pepsi, Mug, Sierra Mist, all of them. I just want a Coke or failing that Dr. Pepper. Why is that so hard?
Nerdy-ass side note: if any of the next Spider-Man movies end up featuring Carnage they'd better cast Jackie Earle Haley as Cletus Kasady. (Rorschach was by far the best part of Watchmen.)

Facelift
triviality:
blogging,
runfromfire,
self-reference,
Watchmen
It occurs to me that this blog has become little more than a link/video dump. It's become a perpetual re-Tweet at this point and if I actually had any readers they'd have flown the coop by now. That being said, I've given Ol' Bloggie a facelift.
I changed the colors, got rid of some of the clutter in the sidebar and replaced the now out-of-date Obama/Biden '08 banner that used to be at the top of the page with the cartoon at the bottom of the page. I also moved my Zune card from the header to the sidebar and replaced it with my own version of preachy bullshit.
The title picture is going to be ever-changing depending on mood. Right now, in anticipation for Friday it's Billy Crudup's Dr. Manhattan. Awesomeness.
All that, however, will be for naught if I don't actually write anything. I can't just post videos and Oscar picks, I need to actually come up with something on my own. So I thoroughly plan on writing more on here. For too long have I let Twitter divert attention from my original internet obsession.
Mark my words, I'll be posting more. I just have to come up with something worth posting.

Thank Emily for finding this one. Meet my favorite rapper: Greydon Square. Listen to the following and see if you can figure out why:

Cyclic Listening Habits
From what I can gather about myself, my listen habits are an Ouroboros. I have eclectic tastes but aside from the bouts of Randomosity I occasionally experience I tend to move in cycles. Right now I am listening to a lot of 60s garage rock (and for some strange reason Scott Walker who has absolutely nothing to do with garage rock in any way, shape or form). A week or two ago it was electronic music (i.e. The Knife & Ratatat). Before that it was jazz fusion (i.e. Medeski, Martin & Wood) and free jazz (i.e. Sun Ra). I'm just weird I guess.
Can't wait to see what I'm listening to next week.
The Monks - Monk Time
The Seeds - Evil Hoodoo
? & the Mysterians - 96 Tears
and just for good measure...
Scott Walker - 30 Century Man
The Knife - Heartbeats
Ratatat - Bird-Priest

Oscars Deux
So I figured I'd revisit the Oscars for a minute because it turns out I'm better at prediction than I thought. Too bad I didn't have money in an Oscar Pool.
Best picture: Slumdog Millionaire
-Ding ding ding!
Best director: Danny Boyle
-Ding ding ding!
Best actor: Sean Penn
-Damn! I was really rooting for Rourke.
Best actress: Kate Winslet
-Ding ding ding!
Best supporting actor: Heath Ledger
-Ding ding ding!
Best supporting actress: Penelope Cruz
-Too bad for Marissa Tomei but I kinda saw this coming. For some reason people like her. Don't ask me why - she looks like a horse and sounds like Charo.
Best animated film: Wall-E
-Ding ding ding!
Best foreign film: Departures
-I haven't seen this so i can't be too bothered. At least The Class didn't win.
Best documentary: Man On Wire
-Ding ding ding!
Best original screenplay: Milk
-Bruges should've gotten something damn it!
Best adapted screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire
-Ding ding ding!
So there you have it. I was pretty damn close. 7 out of 11 (8 if you'll let me count Seabiscuit as a correct answer). Not too shabby.
